UQ Partnership

The Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology benefits from a unique partnership with the University of Queensland. Through this partnership, our students are offered a number of exclusive opportunities commencing with our Engagement Program for our incoming cohort through to study courses which lead to additional bonus tertiary selection rank points when successfully completed.  Our partnership with UQ includes:

• Engagement Days and Engagement Camp

  Our Engagement Program offers Year 9 students the opportunity to not only experience on campus activities from dissections to physics experiments and talks by leading UQ academics, but additionally to form friendships and links with like-minded students who will form our incoming Year 10 cohort.  Our end of year Engagement Camp is the culmination of these days during which students have the opportunity to spend two days on-site at one of UQ's residential colleges, experiencing university life first hand.

• Enhanced Studies Program (ESP)

  Students in Year 12 can also extend their Diploma Programme studies through the completion of an additional university subject via UQ's Enhanced Studies Program. Our ESP students complete their university studies on campus and further extend their experience of university learning and assessment. Students complete the program in the first semester of Year 12. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to receive one bonus point towards their university entry rank through UQ’s Bonus Rank Scheme. 

The focus of our partnership is to bridge the gap between secondary and tertiary education for our State's highest achieving students. Through an academically rigorous curriculum, a focus on the development of autonomous learners and our partnering with the University of Queensland, our students graduate the Academy ready and prepared for tertiary study.
