2014 Translational Research Excellence (TRX14) Conference

On 24 October, Life Sciences Queensland Ltd hosted the 2014 Translational Research Excellence (TRX14) Conference, at the Translational Research Institute in Brisbane. Six QASMT students were invited to the final session of the conference, Early Careers Researchers Workshop, to attend a forum with a facilitated discussion including Q & A from the audience to address options for early career researchers. The forum was moderated by Professor Ian Frazer AC, CEO of the Translational Research Institute, and internationally recognised for his work in developing the technology that has enabled vaccines to prevent cervical cancer. Students were also taken on a tour of the Patheon Biologics world-class pharmaceutical facility and introduced to the important technologies used in creating pharmaceutical drugs from living tissues.
