2015 Queensland Chinese Speaking Competition and the 8th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition

On 30 May 2015, our students competed in the 2015 Queensland Chinese Speaking Competition  and the 8th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for International Secondary School Students jointly organised by the Confucius Institute Queensland (QUT) and Chinese Language Teachers’ Association Queensland. More than 230 grade 5 to 12 students from schools across Queensland, including schools from Cairns, Townsville and Harvey Bay, took part in these competitions. Our students have again represented the Academy well and achieved the following results.

Non-background Speakers Year 11 and 12 Category

  • 2nd Prize – Terra Sudarmana (Year 12)
  • Merit Prize – Yunjin Lee (Year 12)
  • Merit Prize – Julie Lee (Year 11)

Background Speakers Year 9 and 10 Category

  • 1st Prize – Youmin Chen (Year 10)
  • 3rd Prize – Joanna Tang (Year 10)
  • Merit Prize – Sherena Li (Year 10)

Background Speakers Year 11 and 12 Category

  • 2nd Prize – Emily Sun (Year 12)
  • 3rd Prize – Ting Kwan Li (Year 12)
  • Merit Prize – Emma Leong (Year 12)

Our students have sacrificed many lunchtimes to practice their speech, made many revisions to their scripts and spent many hours practicing with the recording. All students who took part in these competitions have worked hard and performed credibly. Their commitment and perseverance are inspiring. We are all very proud of them.
