The Queensland Academies Alumni Association (QAAA) is the formal body for Queensland Academy graduates. QAAA is committed to fostering relationships between alumni, students and the broader International Baccalaureate Alumni Network (IBAN). They work to continue the already established relationships between our members, support Academy and other IB students, engage in global issues and promote the International Baccalaureate curriculum and the importance of education.
The Queensland Academies Alumni Association’s primary purpose is to foster life-long relationships between the graduates of the Queensland Academies. They work to build and maintain professional links between alumni, collegiate, and the Academies themselves. This ranges from running social events and providing professional development opportunities for our members to supporting the learning of current Academy students through scholarships, bursaries and academic programs. Additionally, the Alumni Association encourages the involvement of our members in broader issues which affect youth and society.
Meet Some of Our Alumni:
Clint Therakam – Alumni 2014, IB 44
I am in my third-year aerospace/mechanical engineering/physics degree at UQ. I specialise in mathematics and literacy tutoring. Two years of QASMT tutoring experience has seen my unique teaching strategies lead students to substantial improvements in their performances. Personally, my love of teaching literature extends as a hobby – in the form of poetry, short stories and blog articles primarily.
Vidvi Malik – Alumni 2015, IB 43
I am a second-year Biomedical Science degree at UQ; intending to complete a Doctor of Medicine post graduate. I have thoroughly enjoyed mentoring and tutoring students through their IB journey since 2016. It is especially rewarding to know that I can help them by passing on the tips and tricks that I learnt during my IB journey. I am looking forward to working with you!
Harrison Price – Alumni 2016, IB 45
I am starting a Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Mathematics dual degree at UQ this year. I have a passion for mathematics and Physics in particular. I like to build a solid foundation of knowledge and assist my students in developing effective problem solving skills – especially through the SS program. Outside of academics, I take a keen interest in cricket, tennis and reading.
Selina Ly – Alumni 2016, IB 45
I am in my first year of a Medical Science Degree and look towards completing a Doctor of Medicine. Apart from literacy tutoring, I am also very versatile and capable of enhancing students’ learning across all the subjects I have completed. I am very enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge across a variety of assessment. I also enjoy water colour painting and photography.
