Two teams of ten Year 7 students represented QASMT at the Green Heart Schools Future BNE Challenge as part of World Science Festival 2019. There were six prizes awarded for the competition with one category being Creativity; the solution is highly creative and resourceful, using original thinking and demonstrates a brand new idea or design.
Team 2 “QASMTrees” won the Creativity category, represented by Riley Murnane, Kelvin Chan, Olivia Madan, Eason Wong, Victor Fan, Sana Shah, Mati Sparksman, Leanna Nguyen, Brindha Sivakumar and Olivia Maddison.
Students designed a ‘kinetic energy pathway’ that harnessed the power of pedestrian footsteps, converting kinetic energy to electricity, reducing our reliance on non-renewable energy sources, helping reduce climate change and keeping citizens active!
Our school has won a $500 voucher for resources from Australian Geographic and an excursion to the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium.
