The War on Plastic Bags

Every day, there is a constant influx of heartbreaking news, of whales dying from plastic bags in their digestive system, sea turtles with straws stuck in their noses and the slow destruction of our ecosystem. But, how does this happen? From our careless littering. Although there have been many campaigns to raise awareness in regards to this issue, it brings forward the question, what are we actually doing in order to save our precious environment that is slowly being tarnished by our actions?

Currently, Queensland has implemented a ban on plastic bags used by retailers that are less than 35 microns in thickness (Queensland Government, 2018) as of the 1st of July this year. This encompasses all single-use plastic bags. Read more
