On Thursday October 11, our Young Reporters for the Environment hosted a Community Action Day to raise awareness of the impact of litter on our natural ecosystems. At this event, students presented their reports in poster form, and demonstrated some of their creative upcycling ideas including how to turn an old t-shirt into a shopping bag, and how to make a plastic-free bin liner out of newspaper. These presentations were followed by a free screening of the film Blue, a documentary about environmental issues facing our oceans. We hope that all attendees of the event found it to be an experience with impact, and that all members of the QASMT community will be empowered to make positive changes to combat litter and reduce their consumption of single use plastics. Congratulations to our young reporters Kira Villiers, Annie Shi, Deepte Jaganmohan, Natcha Pokasamrith, Kavindi Thilakarathne, Indumini Agampodige, Joanna Zhang, Vishani Mooljee and Fahim Sultanbawa.
