Meet Our Guidance Officers at QASMT
Guidance Officers are committed to providing quality education services to enhance the education opportunities for every young Queenslander within our primary, secondary and special schools.
At QASMT, our Guidance Officers play a vital role in supporting student wellbeing, academic achievement, and future planning. They provide a safe and welcoming space where students can seek help for mental health concerns, personal challenges, and career discussions.
We are proud to have two dedicated Guidance Officers as part of our support team:
- Katrina Judge – Career Planning: Offers expert guidance in subject selection, career pathways, tertiary education planning, and alternate pathways.
- Tara Le Pla – Student Support: Provides counselling and support for student wellbeing, including mental health, emotional, and social challenges.
Our Guidance Officers work closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic and personalised support. They provide both individual and group counselling, assist with the development of safety and support plans, and promote mental health awareness throughout the school community.
To access the appropriate support for your child, students and parents are encouraged to contact their House Dean in the first instance. Referrals to QASMT Guidance Officers are made through Student's House Deans and form part of a tiered model of intervention and support. For highly sensitive concerns, parents or students are welcome to contact the Guidance Officer – Student Support directly.
