International Students Science Fair
Not only is Week 10 the final week of the 2023 school year, it is also the week we are very fortunate to be hosting the International Students Science Fair.
The ISSF is a prestigious event that brings together young aspiring scientists to showcase their innovative research projects and compete for recognition and awards. It serves as a platform for talented students to exchange ideas, collaborate, and demonstrate their scientific prowess on an international stage.
Across the week, students participated in an action-packed program which saw them engage in extensive workshops at QASMT and UQ, tour the UQ campus, a day trip to Stradbroke Island and Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and many different bonding activities which included a star party and karaoke.

We are honoured to host this event, and we are grateful to all the participants, teachers, and judges for their contributions. We believe that this fair represents a unique opportunity for students to showcase their talents, learn from one another, and engage in meaningful dialogue with experts in their fields. I wish all of the participating schools safe travels as they embark on their journey home.

A personal highlight from this week was attending the ISSF Principal's Dinner at Customs House. The dinner is hosted by a major partner in the fair, The University of Queensland. The venue was truly stunning, nestled along the Brisbane River, and the evening was a fantastic opportunity to network with the many principals from a multitude of different countries. I feel very fortunate that we were able to host so many Principals, and that I was able to engage and collaborate with these inspiring leaders.
Farewell and Congratulations to Sandy Davey
Sandy, the brilliance behind ISSF has officially retired this Friday. Having worked at QASMT since 2017, she has always had the ability to light up every room.
Sandy, as you embark on this exciting new chapter of your life, I want to express gratitude and warm wishes. Your dedication and hard work over the years have left an indelible mark on our team, and your absence will be deeply felt. While we will miss your presence, we're also thrilled for you as you step into this well-deserved phase of relaxation and exploration. May your days be filled with the joy of pursuing your passions, spending quality time with loved ones, and discovering new adventures.
