Marnie Grobe's Retirement

This week, I'd like to take a moment to honour someone truly extraordinary – Marnie!! She has been a vital part of our school community since 2007. Over these remarkable 17 years, Marnie has touched so many lives, leaving a lasting impact on our school, our staff, and, of course, our students.

Marnie's connection with the Academy started in a special way, her daughter Nikki was one of our very first students, graduating in 2008 with our inaugural class of graduates. That same year, Marnie officially joined the Academy, and from the very beginning, it was clear we had someone exceptional on our team.

One of Marnie's greatest contributions has been her dedication to mentoring. She has guided and supported countless teacher aides over the years, but her impact doesn't stop there. Two of the TAs she mentored during their early days with us have gone on to extraordinary success, one is now a teacher, and the other has risen to the position of Head of Department. These achievements are a testament to the encouragement, wisdom, and support Marnie has always so generously shared.

It's impossible to count the ways Marnie has enriched our school. She's been our go-to person, our problem solver, and the one we turn to when we're not sure how to tackle a challenge. It's no exaggeration to say, when someone asks, “How do we do this?" the answer is often, 'Ask Marnie about that'. Her ability to take on any role and excel, her unfailing patience, and her caring attitude have made her an inspiration to us all.

As we celebrate Marnie this week, we also say goodbye to her as she embarks on a well-earned retirement. While we're all a little envious of her exciting plans, her patchwork, her cooking, and all the other creative adventures ahead, we hope she'll share photos and updates so we can live vicariously through her!

Marnie, your legacy at the Academy is immense, and your presence here will be deeply missed. Thank you for everything you've given to this community, for the lives you've touched, and for the lessons you've taught, whether through words or by example.

We wish you all the happiness in the world in this next chapter. You deserve it, and we'll always carry your spirit and contributions with us. Thank you, Marnie.

Wishing Our QASMT Community a Joyful and Restful Holiday Season

As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared in 2024. Together, we've celebrated milestones, overcome challenges, and created memories that will remain with us for years to come. This has been a year filled with growth, discovery, and achievement, and I am so proud of everything our students, staff, and families have accomplished.

To our students, you have amazed us all with your resilience, curiosity, and commitment. Whether you were stepping into the school for the first time, reaching significant academic or personal milestones, or completing your final year at QASMT, your determination and passion has been inspiring. I hope you take these holidays as an opportunity to reflect on your successes, cherish time with loved ones, and recharge for the exciting opportunities that await in 2025.

To our incredible staff, thank you for everything you do to make QASMT such a special place. Your dedication and care for our students and each other create an environment where excellence and support go hand in hand. You've worked so hard this year to guide and inspire, and I truly hope this holiday season gives you the chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy the break, you've more than earned it.

To our parents and caregivers, your support means the world to us. Whether it's volunteering, cheering on our students, or simply being there for your children as they tackle the challenges of school life, you are such an important part of what makes our community thrive. We're so grateful for the way you've partnered with us this year to help our students grow and succeed.

As the holidays approach, I hope everyone takes the time to focus on the things that matter most—family, friends, and the little joys that make life so meaningful. Whether you're travelling, relaxing at home, or exploring something new, I wish you a break that's filled with laughter, love, and wonderful moments to remember.

Thank you all for being part of the QASMT family. We're already looking forward to seeing you in 2025, ready for another year of learning, discovery, and achievements. Until then, have a safe, happy, and relaxing holiday season.
