Year 9 Journey

All Year 9 students undergo a 'journey' together.

The cohort recently returned from an enriching four-day outdoor Journey expedition at the picturesque Lake Moogerah. This experience presented both mental and physical challenges, and our students actively engaged in various activities, including fishing, tubing, cooking, and the unique opportunity to camp under the magnificent canopy of stars.

Throughout the expedition, our students continually encouraged and supported each other, fostering a sense of camaraderie and inspiring one another to excel in their respective groups. They also developed a deep appreciation for the pristine natural environment that surrounded them, reinforcing the importance of preserving and cherishing our natural world.

This journey not only tested their limits but also nurtured their teamwork and a profound connection to the great outdoors.

Year 9 Ceremony.png

This week our Year 9 students took part in a Calling Ceremony, a special event in their Journey Program.

The calling ceremony provides students with a chance to reflect and be grateful for their childhood while pledging to set aside certain habits or behaviours that may hinder their journey to becoming adult learners. At the end of the Calling Ceremony our students received their Journey badges in celebration of the program.

Europe STEM Tour travelogue presentations

As the principal of QASMT, my role often keeps me quite busy, and I don't often have the opportunity to spend extended, quality time with my students. That's why joining the European leg of the STEM tour held such significance for me.

This week, we had the chance to come together as a group once more, to reflect on the tour experiences we shared. Each group crafted and presented a travelogue of their journey, offering a glimpse into their adventures to fellow travelers and their families. Engaging in these reflections allowed us to relive the incredible memories we created, and it brought genuine laughter and joy to my heart.

I wholeheartedly cherish the moments we spent together during the STEM tour. Being a part of this journey as a chaperone was a true privilege, and it allowed me to connect with all of the students in a way that is truly special. These memories will forever hold a special place in my heart.

At QASMT, we are exceptionally fortunate to have a dedicated support staff as an integral part of our school community, and this extends to the hardworking individuals in our refectory. On Friday, we celebrated Tuckshop Day, which provided a perfect opportunity to express our gratitude.

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the unwavering commitment and valuable contributions made by our refectory workers on a daily basis. Senthil and his remarkable team, along with our dedicated parent volunteers, consistently provide us with delectable food and beverages, playing a crucial role in our school community.

We are indeed privileged to have such an exceptional tuckshop at our disposal, thanks to their efforts.

On behalf of the entire SMT community, I extend a heartfelt thank you to Senthil, Irene, Danielle, and Lady Anne for their dedication and outstanding service.

Staff Morning Tea

On Wednesday, we had the pleasure of coming together as a whole staff for a delightful morning tea. It was a wonderful occasion where the Mathematics department, Education outside the Classroom department, and our dedicated House Deans generously provided a variety of delectable treats and refreshments.

These moments of getting together as a staff are not only about savouring delicious food but also about nurturing the wellbeing and camaraderie of our teachers and support staff. It's crucial that we take time to appreciate their hard work, dedication, and the many roles they play in the lives of our students.

Such gatherings not only promote a sense of togetherness but also provide an opportunity for everyone to connect, share their experiences, and foster a supportive and positive atmosphere within our school. It's moments like these that strengthen the bonds among our staff members and remind us of the wonderful community we are a part of.
