Positive Education Week
Positive Education Week was an energising and heartwarming time at our school, packed with activities promoting wellbeing and community spirit. On Monday, we started with a delightful pancake breakfast for students, setting a positive tone for the week.
Tuesday featured a thrilling Staff Vs Students soccer game, where the students triumphed with a 2-1 victory. Our staff had been on a winning streak since last year in these friendly competitions, although our ferocious Year 12s are quite the skilled footballers, and finally clinched victory back from our relentless staff athletes.
Wednesday brought a wave of gratitude as students and staff wrote kind messages on gratitude cards, which were strung up by the refectory walkway for everyone to read and cherish.
On Thursday, the ARC Fair took over the courtyard, with portfolio captains and ambassadors showcasing their CCAs and clubs through various engaging stalls, including a karaoke booth set up by our Production CCA that featured some classic crowd favourites. The week truly highlighted the importance of positivity and connection within our school community, and I feel grateful to have been a part of such a lovely week.
National Science Week Assembly
Ahead of National Science Week next week, we held a special assembly featuring guest speaker Dr Sam Robinson from UQ. Dr Robinson's talk was inspiring and informative, sparking curiosity and excitement among our students.
This assembly was an opportunity to recognise and present awards for significant scientific achievements by our students, celebrating their dedication and success. Additionally, our prospective 2025 Academy Captains delivered their recorded speeches, setting the stage for the upcoming school community vote. The assembly was a fantastic kickoff to National Science Week, highlighting the importance of science and innovation in our school.
Staff Morning Tea
Our whole staff morning tea is a cherished tradition held once a term, fostering camaraderie and providing a well-deserved break for our hardworking team. This term, the event was catered by our dedicated Maths, EOTC, and House Deans faculties, who went above and beyond to create a delightful spread in the staff Wellbeing Room. The morning was filled with delicious treats and warm conversations, reinforcing the strong sense of community within our school. We extend our gratitude to the Maths, EOTC, and House Deans teams for their kindness and culinary skills, making this term's staff morning tea a deliciously enjoyable occasion.
Evening Concert
Our Evening Concert in the Auditorium was a spectacular showcase of our talented instrumental music students. The performances were mesmerising, with each student demonstrating their musical prowess. The evening was filled with a diverse array of songs, with classics and modern tunes captivating the audience and creating a memorable experience for all. The concert was a testament to the hard work and passion of our students, and their commitment to the arts.
Timetable Consultation
Our recent timetable consultation session brought together key stakeholders to discuss potential changes to the school timetable in 2025. The session was a collaborative effort, with participants sharing their insights and suggestions on how to improve the structure and maximise teaching time. It was encouraging to see such active engagement from all members of our school community, reflecting our collective commitment to creating an optimal learning environment.
Once the feedback from the Stakeholder Consultation is analysed, we will be in a position to share the final timetable proposals, and furthermore, we will seek feedback from parents/caregivers via a survey link.
