Year 7 and Incoming Year 10 – New Parent Information Evening

On Tuesday evening, we had the pleasure of welcoming our Year 7 and incoming Year 10 families at the New Parent Information Evening. This event is always an important one as it allows parents and caregivers to get to know the staff who will be guiding their students throughout their QASMT journey.

The evening began with a meet and greet, where parents had the opportunity to connect with one another, as well as with our House Deans, Heads of Department, Guidance Officers, and Leadership team. This was followed by a series of presentations, covering key aspects of life at QASMT, including:

  • Introduction to House Deans and the Guidance Officer - the vital support network available to students.
  • Positive Education - our approach to fostering student wellbeing and resilience.
  • Student Code of Conduct - expectations and values that shape our school culture.
  • Routines and Procedures - the day-to-day structures that help students thrive.
  • Parent Communications - how we ensure clear and consistent updates for families.
  • Camp Information - a glimpse into the upcoming camp experiences for students.
  • Home Learning Expectations - guidance on study habits and workload management.
  • QParent & DayMap Parent Portal Sign-On - tools for parents to stay informed.

Our First Academy Representative Council (ARC) Meeting

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of meeting with our Academy Representative Council (ARC) for the first meeting this year. These student leaders are the voice of our student body, representing their peers and working closely with staff to enhance the QASMT experience for everyone.

Our first meeting set the tone for a productive year ahead. We discussed key areas of focus, upcoming initiatives, and ways we can foster student engagement across all year levels. The passion and enthusiasm in the room was evident, and I have no doubt that this year's ARC will bring incredible ideas to life.

Year 12 IB Assembly – Preparing for the Final Year

For our Year 12 students, this week brought a significant moment - their first IB Assembly of the year, led by Dr Esme Hatchell, Deputy Principal of Senior Years. This session was all about preparing for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their final year of the IB Diploma.

Dr Hatchell covered everything from assessment deadlines to strategies for managing workload, reinforcing the importance of organisation, perseverance, and self-care. Students were also reminded of the incredible support network available to them including teachers, mentors, and peers who will be by their side throughout this journey.

There was a real sense of focus and determination in the room. The Year 12 cohort is stepping into this final chapter with a strong mindset, ready to take on the challenges ahead. The road to graduation starts now, and we can't wait to see them rise to the occasion.

Leadership Induction Assembly – Welcoming Our 2025 Student Leaders

To cap off the week, Thursday's Leadership Induction Assembly was a celebration of service, responsibility, and student leadership. Our House Captains, Portfolio Captains, and Ambassadors for 2025 were formally welcomed on stage, receiving their badges and certificates as they stepped into their roles.

Leadership at QASMT isn't just about holding a title - it's about making a difference, setting an example, and uplifting others. The students who stood on stage today are not just leaders in name but in action, committed to making QASMT an even better place for their peers.

Throughout the year, they will lead House events, student initiatives, and school-wide projects, helping to build a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and excellence. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them and can't wait to see what they achieve in 2025!
