STRM Week

Throughout the week, our school transformed into a hub of innovation and exploration as we celebrated STRM Week. Student ambassadors from Science, Technology, Robotics, and Mathematics led a series of engaging activities and events during lunchtimes, inspiring their peers to delve into the wonders of STEM education. From the annual Watermelon Implosion Competition to Virtual Reality experiences and Logic Puzzles, our students embraced the opportunity to unleash their creativity and problem-solving skills, reaffirming the importance of STEM education in shaping our future leaders and innovators. STRM Week served as a testament to the boundless potential of our students and the transformative impact of hands-on learning experiences in igniting a passion for inquiry and discovery.

As students navigated through the various activities and challenges offered during STRM Week, they not only honed their technical skills but also developed essential competencies such as critical thinking, collaboration, and adaptability. By engaging in real-world applications of STEM concepts and technologies, they gained valuable insights into the relevance and importance of these disciplines in addressing complex global challenges. The week-long celebration of STRM serves as a catalyst for inspiring lifelong curiosity and exploration, empowering our students to become innovators and change-makers in an increasingly interconnected world.

Hawking Charity Event

On Monday, Hawking House exemplified the spirit of giving back by joining forces with the charity Eat Up, to prepare over 1000 sandwiches. With the help of partners and dedicated volunteers, Eat Up delivers over 20,000 lunches directly to schools for vulnerable children each week. Our students' efforts not only provided nourishment to those in need, it also demonstrated the power of collective action in creating positive change in our community. Through their selfless contributions, our students embodied the ethos of service and compassion, inspiring us all to make a difference in the lives of others.

In addition to the tangible impact of their actions, our students also gained invaluable lessons in empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility. By working together towards a common goal, they not only addressed an immediate need within our community, they have fostered a sense of solidarity and unity that extends far beyond the walls of our school. The experience served as a powerful reminder of the profound impact that individuals can have when they come together with a shared purpose, and it reinforced our school's commitment to instilling values of kindness and generosity in our students.

Newton Bake Sale

In a delightful display of culinary prowess and generosity, our Newton House students organised a bake sale to raise funds for the Miracle Babies Foundation. With an array of delectable cakes, cookies, and baked goods on offer, our students not only satisfied sweet cravings but also raised vital funds to support premature and sick newborns, and their families. Through their efforts, our students showcased the power of compassion and community spirit in making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. The bake sale served as a heartwarming reminder of the importance of empathy and solidarity in supporting those facing challenging circumstances, and it reinforced our commitment to serving as agents of positive change in our community.

QA Karaoke

To cap off the week's events on a high note, our school hosted QA Karaoke, inviting students to showcase their vocal talents and spread joy through music. Set against the backdrop of our courtyard, the karaoke booth became a stage for students to express themselves and celebrate the joy of music with their peers. From heartfelt ballads to upbeat anthems, each performance resonated with laughter, applause, and a sense of camaraderie, reaffirming the bonds that unite us as a school community. QA Karaoke provided a platform for students to step out of their comfort zones, express themselves creatively, and foster meaningful connections with their peers. Through shared laughter and song, students forged memories that will be cherished.

Academy Captains Meeting

Every week I meet with the ARC and every three weeks I meet with the four School Captains.  Our meetings are a crucial part of our Student Leadership Program. They provide an opportunity for student leaders to collaborate with the principal and take action on their goals. These meetings often take place at lunchtime.
