Homestay at QASMT
At the Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology (QASMT), we are committed to providing happy, safe, and supportive homestay arrangements for international students who require accommodation while studying in Brisbane.
Living with a QASMT-approved host family offers more than just a place to stay - it's an opportunity to experience Australian culture, improve English skills, and make lifelong friendships, all while being part of a caring family environment.
International Students, while studying at QASMT, will be placed with one of our carefully selected homestay families. All host families:
- Are personally visited and screened by QASMT staff.
- Must ensure all household members over 18 hold a current Blue Card and pass a police and criminal history check.
- Are visited regularly to ensure they can provide the best care for international students.
Australia is a multicultural society, so there is no “typical" Australian family. Your host family might be a couple, a single parent, or a family with children - and may have cultural heritage from Australia or another country.
Your homestay parents will welcome you into their home and include you in family life. You will be expected to:
- Join in family activities and communicate openly.
- Respect household rules and values.
- Help keep your living space and home tidy.
Benefits of Homestay:
- Learn about Australian culture.
- Make friends with Australians.
- Improve your English language skills.
- Share your own culture.
- Adjust to life in a new country in a safe, caring environment.
