Studying with like-minded students

By challenging current approaches to teaching and learning, Queensland Academy for Science Mathematics and Technology (QASMT) enables students to learn from and with each other. The International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum provides an environment in which students are not competing for a finite number of top scores.

Internationally recognised curriculum

QASMT offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) for junior students and the Diploma Programme for senior students. The Diploma Programme is an internationally recognised pre-university level qualification that allows for subjects to be accelerated and for graduating students to study at Australian tertiary institutions as well as overseas universities.

Preparation for university

The rigour of the IB curriculum with subjects such as an introduction to the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay (a research topic of the student’s choosing), coupled with the style of education enables students to adjust more readily to university conditions.

Partnerships with universities

Partnerships with leading universities afford benefits including credit into second-year university courses, attainment of additional tertiary rankings, industry experience, involvement with university staff and access to world-class resources and facilities.

Technology-rich environment

The new university-standard facilities at QASMT have full wireless connectivity which allows students to use laptop tablets instead of traditional exercise books, for all subjects.

Stimulating, challenging environment

Highly capable students are stimulated with challenging extension and enhancement opportunities delivered in collaboration with partner universities and organisations. They take part in camps, sports, music events and milestone activities such as formals and graduation ceremonies. This is formalised through our Co-curricular Activities (CCA) program and the Creativitity, Activity and Service (CAS) component of the IB.

However challenging the curriculum, we believe students will find their place with us, surrounded by like-minded peers. They will be treated equally, regardless of their background or circumstances and we will work tirelessly and provide the tools, support and safe environment required to empower our students to unlock their potential and meet their goals.
