As part of the International Baccalaureate's CAS requirement, QASMT offers students the ability to complete a CAS project with a focus on Activity in our Ski Tour.  This 5-day tour gives students the opportunity to learn new skills or develop current skills on the snow.  Under the guidance of professional instructors, students gain confidence on the mountain, and then get to feel the independence of their own exploration.  This tour challenges students to overcome their inhibitions and push themselves to new limits in a supportive and fun environment.

Learning Experiences and Outcomes

  • By studying the physical specifics of snow sports as well as the lifestyle of those who participate significantly in these sports, students develop an understanding of the health benefits of an active lifestyle.

  • Students will discover the primary impact of these sports to the human body, for example in terms of bone health, muscle development, and consequent or required diet.

  • Students will conquer personal challenges as they develop their ski skills, gain confidence through their successes, and learn to overcome failures.

  • The mental benefits of such active lifestyles will also be investigated and experienced by students as they partake in the tour.

  • The ski field environment is one that is supportive of all participants in fostering their development.  Students will learn about the importance of respecting rules and etiquette, developing leadership skills such as decision-making and motivating others, and though it is thought of as an individual sport, working as a team as you navigate the mountain together.
