There has been a steady energy across the campus this week, with students moving between academic challenge, creative exploration, and co-curricular opportunity. From competitions and leadership moments to hands-on activities, it has been a week that reflects the breadth of life at QASMT.
Across the week, many of our students have been involved in key events including District Cross Country, Regional Volleyball for our girls' teams, and the QASMT/UQ Problem Solving Competition. Each of these experiences brings its own demands and rewards, and it has been encouraging to see students approach them with commitment, focus, and a willingness to grow.
Senior Summer Gala Day
Last Friday, our students showed great sportsmanship. A special mention to the awesome Open Boys volleyball team who won the premiership flag in a great final against Indooroopilly SHS.

Mother's Day Stall
As we move further into the term, we also look ahead to Mother's Day. This is a meaningful opportunity to acknowledge the care, support, and guidance that shape our young people.
These relationships, often steady and constant, play a significant role in student wellbeing and development.
To mark the occasion, a Mother's Day Stall will be held in Week 3 in the Refectory at lunch and afternoon tea. Cash and EFTPOS will be available, with all proceeds supporting Share the Dignity.
ANZAC Day at Anzac Square
This week also provided an opportunity to reflect on our recent ANZAC Day commemorations. Our Academy Captains, Jemimah and Charlie, represented QASMT at Anzac Square in the city, joining schools and members of the public in a formal service to honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for Australia.
It was a meaningful occasion, held in a place of national significance, where reflection and remembrance were central.
During the service, they had the privilege of meeting the Governor of Queensland, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, and participating in the official proceedings.
Principal's Achievement Awards
We also take this opportunity to recognise several outstanding student achievements.
Congratulations to Jayani, who received a Principal's Achievement Competition Commendation.
Well done to Lincoln, who has been invited to attend the On the Green leadership event at Parliament House.
Congratulations to Jessie, who will attend the Global Summer School at Imperial College London. And we commend participation in the Queensland 15-19 Years Girls Cricket Team for the National Exchange Program against New South Wales.
Futsal Languages World Cup
Due to wet weather earlier in the week, Monday's futsal fixtures were postponed, but play resumed on Tuesday with great enthusiasm. Futsal continues to be a vibrant part of student life, bringing together teamwork, communication, and friendly competition in an environment that values both participation and performance.
It was great to see both students and staff down on the oval supporting, playing, and getting involved in the action.
We look forward to seeing more Futsal action continue into the following weeks.

STRM Program
Brought a sense of curiosity and playfulness to the week, with students engaging in a range of interactive activities led by our Science, Technology, Robotics, and Mathematics teams.
Highlights included the much-anticipated Watermelon Implosion.
Students also explored Mathematics Mosaic Magic, creating their own mosaic artworks while investigating near-repeating patterns and the mathematical ideas behind sequencing. Later in the week, the Mathematics Escape Room challenged problem-solving skills in a dynamic setting.
In Robotics, students took control of machines and catapults in Riveting Robotics, while Terrific Tech saw students building Arduino projects, including a fruit piano and a depth sensor. These experiences continue to bring learning to life in engaging and memorable ways.
Miskin Cup
This week, students represented QASMT in the Miskin Cup football fixture against Brisbane Boys' College. As part of this longstanding interschool tradition, the match reflected both competitive spirit and mutual respect. Played at Miskin Oval, we congratulate Brisbane Boys College who won the match 1-0.
