During the September holidays Mr Hams accompanied two robotics teams to Adelaide for the Robocup Junior National Championships. Our QASMT Team spent two days competing and learning from the best robotics teams from across Australia. Pebbles, our year 8/9 team, were in 3rd place in the Secondary Rescue competition after the first day. Unfortunately, a robot malfunction saw them finish in a commendable 6th place overall. The year 7 team, Benchwarmers, competing in the soccer competition with new super-speedy Lego Technic robots Pelé and Sonny, fought off extremely tough competition, to make it to the Grand Final finishing second by a narrow margin to a year 11 team from Perth.
Congratulations to both teams for hard fought campaigns which involved many hours of coding and refining robots to get them to such a high standard. Huge thanks to Mr Hams for taking the teams to Adelaide; and along with Ms Bebbington for putting on build days at school in the holidays to enable the Robocup, FLL and FTC teams to finesse their robots for competition.
