Welcome to Term 2!
It's been a fantastic start to Term 2, and I'm thrilled to welcome everyone back for what promises to be an exciting and rewarding term. We began the week with our Term 2 Commencement Assembly, a wonderful opportunity to reconnect as a community and set a positive tone for the weeks ahead. Our Academy Captains, Portfolio Captains, and Ambassadors led the way with a high energy presentation, showcasing the exciting events and initiatives planned for the term.

From Cross Country and Athletics Carnival to the return of Sustainability Week and the Festival of Creativity, there is certainly a lot to look forward to. These events are not only a celebration of our students' talents, but they also foster connection, wellbeing, and Academy spirit. It's always energising to see how our students get involved and bring each event to life with their creativity and enthusiasm.

We were also honoured to welcome back our 2024 Dux, Kelvin Chan, who delivered a thoughtful and inspiring address to our students. Reflecting on his QASMT journey, Kelvin shared:
“My journey wasn't a straight line. I started messing around with physics and robotics, not because I knew exactly where I was going, but because I was curious. I explored. I discovered that my passion for STEM isn't just about finding answers, but about asking better questions."
Kelvin's wise words beautifully encapsulate the spirit of inquiry and exploration we strive to foster here at the Academy. We thank him for taking the time to share his story and for encouraging our students to stay curious and engaged.
ARC Sausage Sizzle
The Academy Representative Council kicked off the term with a fantastic sausage sizzle on Friday—a perfect way to celebrate all the hard work our students put in throughout Term 1. The atmosphere around the school was joyful as students and staff came together to enjoy a delicious lunch and reconnect.
What made this event particularly special was that it was completely student led and initiated, a great example of leadership, teamwork, and school spirit. All proceeds from the sausage sizzle will be donated to Share the Dignity, the ARC's chosen charity for the year. I'm incredibly proud of our ARC team for their compassion and commitment to making a difference.

Business Networking Opportunity
It was a pleasure to attend a recent delegation event held at Queensland Parliament House, which welcomed representatives from Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province. The occasion provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen educational and cultural connections, and to explore avenues for future collaboration. I appreciated the chance to engage with colleagues across sectors and thank the organisers for facilitating such a meaningful exchange.

ANZAC Day
As always, our school community showed deep respect and reflection during our ANZAC Day commemorations. Thursday's assemblies provided a solemn yet meaningful opportunity to honour the service and sacrifice of the ANZACs and all who have served our country.
I was especially moved by the student led segments and the beautiful musical performances that paid tribute in such a meaningful way. These moments of shared remembrance remind us of the strength and empathy within our community.

ANZAC Day is always a moment to remind ourselves of the values of courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice. Qualities that continue to guide our nation and resonate within our own community. I am grateful to all the staff and students who contributed to making the assemblies so special and impactful.
