Metropolitan North Principals Roadshow

The QASMT String Quartet started our morning beautifully at the Principal's Roadshow. It was wonderful to see our students on stage, and they played magnificently. Congratulations to our talented students, Claire, Dami, Wendi and Terrie, and our exceptional Instrumental Music Coordinator, Ms Lissa Sullivan-Ward.

The day provided a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues and engage in conversations around key priorities for Queensland education. We heard from the Minister for Education and the Arts on government priorities, and the Director-General led a Q&A session focused on the Equity and Excellence agenda. Workshops explored the implementation of the State Schools' Education Strategy and practical approaches to red tape reduction. My thanks to the organisers for a well structured and thought provoking day.

Mother's Day Stall

This week, the Refectory was transformed into a vibrant hub of appreciation and celebration with the QASMT Mother's Day Stall. Held on Thursday and Friday, this event was a wonderful collaboration between our Parent Representatives and the Academy.

The stall featured a delightful array of gifts, including potted plants, bath products, sweet treats, stationery, and beautifully hand crafted Mother's Day cards. Thoughtfully curated and warmly received, the stall offered something special for every mum or maternal figure. It was a joy to see students selecting gifts with such care and gratitude, including myself! I picked up a selection of lovely gifts for my mother-in-law, and I know many others were just as excited to spoil someone special. All proceeds raised from the stall will be donated to Share the Dignity (the ARC selected school charity), a charity dedicated to supporting women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, or financial hardship. Thank you to our incredible parents and volunteers who made this event possible, your generosity and community spirit help make QASMT such a special place.

Student Achievements

As always, I'm delighted to celebrate some of the outstanding achievements of our students this term.

First, a huge congratulations to Sam in Year 10, who recently represented the MetWest team at the State Under 15s Volleyball Trials in Caloundra. Sam's talent and dedication were evident throughout the competition, and we are thrilled to share that the MetWest team took out the State title, an incredible accomplishment!

Secondly, Prabha has achieved extraordinary success in the 2025 State Debating Trials. Out of over 190 triallists, she was selected as one of the Top 12 finalists. As part of this recognition, Prabha was invited to speak at a special show debate in Queensland Parliament House, commemorating International Women's Day. What a remarkable honour, congratulations Prabha!

And finally, we celebrate Richard, who was awarded Best Speaker at the 2025 UN Youth Australia Global Leaders Cup, representing Argentina. Richard's leadership, articulation and confidence truly stood out, and we are so proud of his performance at such a prestigious event.

These achievements are a testament to the excellence, passion, and drive that our students bring to everything they do. Well done, Sam, Prabha, and Richard!
