STRM WEEK
This week we celebrated one of the most exciting events on our annual calendar—STRM Week! Dedicated to the four cornerstone disciplines of Science, Technology, Robotics, and Mathematics, this week brought our campus to life with engaging activities, challenges, and student-led experiences. From daily quizzes and tech challenges to lunchtime coding and robotics displays, students were immersed in a world of curiosity and innovation.

One of the highlights, as always, was the Watermelon Implosion Competition—a QASMT tradition where staff and our four Ambassador teams race to see who can implode their watermelon first using rubber bands. This wonderfully chaotic and entertaining event drew a large crowd, as the teams battled it out with great spirit and energy. It was a fantastic reminder of the fun and collaborative side of STEM learning, and a true celebration of student creativity and scientific inquiry.

“It's In The Bag" for Share the Dignity
We were proud to support the "It's in the Bag" campaign for Share the Dignity, a vital initiative providing hygiene products to women and girls in need. Staff and students have been donating generously to collection boxes around the school, gathering essential items such as toiletries, period products, and other personal care goods.

This week, our community came together in a powerful display of compassion and teamwork, as students and staff worked side by side to pack these donations into care bags. Our efforts were strengthened through a meaningful partnership with local Zonta Clubs, who joined us in making a tangible difference.

We are also incredibly proud of Jessica and Katherine, who have each received the Young Women in Leadership Award from Brisbane Zonta clubs in recognition of their dedication and community leadership. Congratulations to both of you on this well-deserved honour!

IM Futsal Competition
Our Intercultural Multilingual (IM) Futsal Competition has been heating up this term! Now in its second year, this unique event brings together language and sport in a dynamic and engaging way. Students form teams representing different countries, and throughout the games, they can only communicate in the language of the nation they're playing for, creating an exciting blend of athleticism and language immersion.

Despite some wet weather delaying the final match, the competition has been a huge success, with enthusiastic participation and great sportsmanship from all involved. The final game to crown this year's winning team will be held soon, and we can't wait to see who comes out on top. Well done to all participants for embracing the spirit of the event!
Year 10 PEP ARC Presentation
Our Year 10 students had a very special PEP session this week, with visits from members of the Year 12 Academy Representative Council (ARC). These student leaders shared their journeys at QASMT and spoke about the importance of leadership, service, and staying positively engaged through the IB Diploma Programme.

The session was filled with insightful discussions and interactive activities, where the Year 10s were encouraged to reflect on their own goals, values, and the kind of legacy they want to build during their senior years. Thank you to our ARC members for being such authentic role models and for taking the time to inspire the next generation of QASMT leaders.

Parent Teacher Interviews
On Thursday, we welcomed families to campus for our Parent Teacher Interviews, an important opportunity to connect and collaborate in support of student growth. These conversations are a cornerstone of our partnership with families, allowing for reflection on progress, discussion of challenges, and the setting of clear goals for the term ahead.
I would like to thank all staff, students, and families for your engagement and commitment to academic and personal development. It was heartening to see so many meaningful discussions taking place across the day, reinforcing the strength of our QASMT community.
Student Achievements
We are proud to share the achievements of two outstanding students this week who have exemplified excellence in both the arts and sciences.
Congratulations to Wendi, who performed beautifully at the Equity and Excellence Roadshow. Her musical performance was a highlight of the event, showcasing not only her exceptional talent but also the depth of creativity and dedication our students bring to every opportunity. Wendi represented QASMT with grace and professionalism, and we commend her for sharing her gift with such a wide audience.

We also extend our warmest congratulations to Katherine, who has been selected as part of the 2025 International Chemistry Olympiad team! This is an extraordinary accomplishment, and Katherine's hard work, intellect and passion for Chemistry have been recognised at the highest level. We are incredibly proud of her and excited to see her represent Australia on the global stage next year.
