Year 10 PEP Visit from Indooroopilly Police
This week, our Year 10 students had the privilege of attending a Positive Education Program (PEP) session led by Sergeant Jose Sarmiento from the Indooroopilly Police Station. Sergeant Sarmiento delivered an insightful and informative presentation on cybersafety, focusing on the laws that govern online behaviour, and offered practical tips for staying safe in the digital world.
His presentation empowered our students with essential knowledge about how to protect themselves online, where to seek help if needed, and the importance of responsible digital citizenship. The session was incredibly valuable, equipping our students with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of cyberspace confidently and safely. A big thank you to Sergeant Sarmiento for taking the time to share valuable expertise with our school community!
Year 9 Forensic Psychology Guest – Dr Tim Lowry
Our Year 9 Forensic Psychology students had a unique and exciting opportunity to delve deeper into the field of forensic psychology through a guest lecture by Dr Tim Lowry, a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. Dr Lowry shared fascinating insights from his extensive work with offenders who experience mental health challenges, giving students a rare glimpse into the complexities of this demanding field.
The session was informative and interactive, as students participated in a hands-on activity that involved conducting a risk assessment based on a real-life case study. This exercise allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context, providing them with an authentic experience of what it's like to work in forensic psychology. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr Lowry for sharing his expertise and inspiring our future psychologists!
Year 12 IB Mock Exams
This week marked an important milestone for our Year 12 students as they undertook their IB mock exams, a crucial step in preparing them for the official IB exams later this year. The mock exams are designed to simulate the real exam conditions, allowing students to gauge their preparedness and identify areas where they may need further revision. These exams play a critical role in helping students build confidence and fine-tune their strategies ahead of the final assessments.
As students approach the final stretch of their IB journey, we wish our Year 12s the best of luck, and remind them that their hard work and dedication will undoubtedly pay off. With just two weeks left before they head into IB exam preparation in Week 9, the entire school community is wishing them all the very best.
