Welcome back
Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful break and are ready for an exciting academic year ahead. To our returning students, it's wonderful to have you back, and to our new students and staff members, a very warm welcome to QASMT. This year is going to be an exciting year.
As always, we began the week with our commencement assembly. It was lovely to see our students enthusiastically arriving to school and ready to embrace 2024. Whilst the Principal, Kath Kayrooz, is on long service leave, her video address outlined the kindness theme for this year. Ms Kayrooz explained “Kindness is a universal language, that surpasses age, background and circumstances." We encourage our staff and students to commit to creating a school environment where everyone feels heard and valued. Together we can create a positive impact on our entire school community.
During Weeks 1 and 2, whilst Kath Kayrooz is on long service leave, Tanya Haggarty is Acting Principal.
It's impressive to see our students settling back into the rhythm of learning. Their enthusiasm and engagement continues to be outstanding, inside and outside of the classrooms. The smooth transition back to academics is a testament to the resilience and adaptability. As they dive into their studies, reconnect with friends, and embrace the challenges of a new academic year, I am confident that their curiosity and dedication will lead to remarkable achievements this year.
Year 7 Orientation program
The Year 7 Orientation program is a crucial introduction for our new students entering high school. The program familiarises students with our unique campus, and introduces them to their House Dean, teachers and peers. The program is varied and ensures a smooth transition into secondary schooling, fostering confidence and a sense of belonging at QASMT.
