National Reconciliation Week

As we observe National Reconciliation Week, it is a time for us to reflect on the significant history and contributions of our First Nations People. This year's theme, "Be a Voice for Generations" encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives - where we live, work, and socialise. At QASMT, we are committed to fostering a deeper understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.

Staff Versus Students Basketball

This week, the school was abuzz with excitement as we hosted the highly anticipated Staff vs Students Basketball Game. The event saw our staff team taking on a formidable group of Year 12 students in a thrilling match held in the Auditorium.

With a large contingent of students cheering along, the atmosphere was electric. Our staff team emerged victorious, thanks to some stellar performances from Mr Chen and Mr Kiehne, who showcased their basketball prowess to the amazement of staff and students alike. It was a fantastic display of skill, teamwork, and school spirit, and a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to connect and have fun together.

Franklin Bake Sale

The Franklin House Bake Sale was another roaring success this week. Students brought in an array of delicious baked goods to sell to their peers, and as usual, the turnout was impressive. It was a sold out fundraiser, and the energy and enthusiasm were palpable. This is the second bake sale of the year, and once again, it did not disappoint.

All proceeds from the bake sale will go towards supporting the RSPCA, an organisation close to Franklin House's heart. We are incredibly proud of our students for their generosity and hard work in organising and running this event, and we thank everyone who contributed and supported this worthy cause.

Year 12 100 Day Photo

A special tradition at our school is the Year 12 100 Day Photo, marking the moment when our Year 12 students have only 100 school days left of their final year. This week, our Year 12s gathered on the stairs in our Research Centre for this memorable photo. It is a cherished parting gift each year, symbolising their journey and achievements at QASMT. The photo captures the spirit, unity, and camaraderie of our senior students as they prepare to embark on the next exciting chapter of their lives. We are already incredibly proud of their accomplishments and look forward to celebrating their continued success.

Exam Block Ahead

Next week marks the beginning of the exam block for our students, a crucial time in their academic journey. We understand the hard work and resilience that our students dedicate towards their studies, and we wish them the very best of luck as they prepare for their exams. It is important to approach this period with confidence, and to remember that support is always available from teachers, peers and family. We believe in our students' abilities and are confident that their efforts will yield great results. Good luck to all our students during this exam period.

Academy Captains Meeting

Principal and School Captain meetings are extremely important for fostering collaboration, student agency and wellbeing. This week, we discussed several important topics, including the success of the student volunteer program in the Refectory, congestion issues in the Research Centre, theft in the Refectory, toilet conditions, and lost ID cards. These meetings are invaluable as they allow us to address concerns, brainstorm solutions, and enhance the overall school experience. It is always a pleasure working with our dedicated Captains, whose insights and commitment contribute significantly to our community's wellbeing and growth.
