Share the Dignity and Zonta Donation Bags

This week, our school had the privilege of partnering with Zonta Brisbane East for the "It's in the Bag" Share the Dignity charity event. Students filled gifted handbags with donated hygiene and sanitary items to support women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, or period poverty. This initiative not only provided essential supplies to those in need but also fostered a sense of empathy and solidarity within our school community. By coming together to support this worthy cause, we demonstrated our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others and spreading kindness and compassion to those who need it most.

Parent Information Evening

On Monday night, we welcomed parents to our Parent Information Evening, providing an opportunity for parents to connect with the QASMT Leadership Team, and gain valuable insights into their child's education journey. The evening kicked off with a meet and greet in the courtyard, where parents had the chance to mingle and engage in meaningful conversations with our leadership team. Following this, each year level information session provided parents with valuable information about curriculum, extracurricular activities, and support services available to their child. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents to become more actively involved in their child's education, strengthening the partnership between home and school.

Languages Futsal Competition Final

Our school continued to celebrate cultural diversity and sportsmanship with the highly anticipated final of the Languages Futsal Competition. After weeks of intense competition, teams representing various countries from around the world faced off in an exhilarating showdown on the oval. As players communicated with each other in their native languages, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and camaraderie. The final match was a testament to the power of sport in bringing people together and promoted a deeper appreciation for different cultures and languages.

Parent Teacher Interviews

On Wednesday, our school conducted Parent Teacher Interviews, providing parents with valuable insights into their child's academic progress and overall wellbeing. Throughout the day, teachers and parents engaged in open and constructive discussions, reflecting on students' strengths, areas for improvement, and goals for the future. These meaningful conversations strengthened the partnership between home and school, ensuring that parents are actively involved in their child's educational journey, and are equipped with the information to support and enable their children to flourish.

Staff Morning Tea

In a heartwarming display of appreciation and camaraderie, the teaching staff and support staff gathered in the Wellbeing Room to enjoy another Whole Staff Morning Tea. Each term, we come together to enjoy delicious treats and connect with colleagues in a relaxed and supportive environment. As always, these wellbeing initiatives are a wonderful opportunity for staff to unwind and take a break from their busy schedules to connect with likeminded colleagues. It reaffirms the importance of prioritising wellbeing and connection with others in support of fostering a positive workplace. Thank you to the Language and Literature, European Languages, and Asian Languages and The Arts departments for providing an extensive spread of amazing foods.

We ended this week on a high note, as our school hosted an enchanting Evening Concert in the auditorium. The event showcased the remarkable musical talent of our students, with performances by our Strings and Choir ensembles followed by our Brass, Woodwind and Percussion ensembles. Notable performances included the enchanting "The Lord of the Rings Suite" by our Vivace Strings, and the dynamic "The Incredibles Theme" by one of our Big Bands. It was a night to remember, celebrating the creativity, passion, and dedication of our talented young musicians.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated music staff for their guidance and dedication to our students. You have once again produced another wonderful evening filled with beautiful musical performances.

Parent Engagement meeting

On Thursday, we held our Year Level Parent Representatives meeting to celebrate the wonderful parent engagement events from Term 1 through to the start of Term 2, and express our gratitude to our Parent Representatives for leading so many successful initiatives, including the International Women's Day celebration and the Mother's Day Stall etc.

During the meeting, our Parent Representatives engaged in collaborative discussions with the QASMT leadership team. Key topics included infrastructure updates, research centre reminders, exciting upcoming school events, and Parent Representative working groups.

We are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to collaborate with our Parent Representatives at the upcoming Festival of Creativity, an event that will involve the entire school community. We aim to make this festival a memorable and successful occasion, with our Parent Representatives playing a crucial role in enriching our QASMT community.

Our Parent Representatives continue to serve as a vital link for fostering collaboration and open communication between the school and our QASMT families. We are very grateful for their ongoing dedication and support.

School Council

This week, our members of School Council met for our second meeting for 2024. During the meeting, we discussed Student Reporting Data, Curriculum updates, School Infrastructure updates and Parent Engagement updates. As always, our meetings are a great opportunity to build upon the Academy's strategic direction and to collaborate between key stakeholders within our school community.
