Plant a Tree Day
Plant a Tree Day at our school is a fantastic initiative that saw students eagerly contributing to our green campus. Students gathered by the gardens at A Block, planting a variety of native trees and shrubs. This activity not only beautified our school grounds, it also educates students on the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship. The enthusiasm and dedication of our students were evident as they worked together, showing a strong commitment to caring for our environment. We are proud of their efforts and look forward to watching these trees grow and thrive in the coming years.
Interhouse Trivia
This week, our houses engaged in a spirited battle of wits during the Interhouse Trivia competition. Over the Instep sessions, students competed in topics ranging from pop culture and science, to geography and logical reasoning. The trivia sessions provided an opportunity for healthy competition and fostered a sense of camaraderie and house spirit.
4 Voices Visit
We were honoured to host 4 Voices at our school, bringing their van 'Snowflake' to demonstrate the vital support and amenities they provide to people in need. Over the last four years, our Leo's Club has generously donated over $10,000 to 4 Voices, and it was inspiring to see the impact of their contributions. The students were able to tour 'Snowflake' and learn about the services offered, including digital and social connection, support, and safety for women and girls. This visit highlighted the importance of community support, and the positive difference our students are making through their fundraising efforts.
Hollows Charity Carnival
Hollows House hosted a vibrant Charity Carnival in the courtyard to raise funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation. The event featured a variety of games, each offering exciting prizes for students to win. The carnival atmosphere was filled with laughter and enjoyment as students participated in activities while supporting a great cause. The dedication of Hollows House students in organising this event was truly commendable, and their efforts will contribute significantly to the Foundation's mission of restoring sight and improving eye health worldwide.
RSPCA Visit
Franklin House's fundraising efforts were celebrated with a special visit from Estelle and Buddy, a rescue spaniel from the RSPCA. After raising just over $1000 through their bake sale, Franklin House presented the cheque to Estelle, who expressed a very heartfelt thank you on behalf of the RSPCA. Buddy, the friendly spaniel, enjoyed plenty of pats and attention from the students, bringing smiles to everyone's faces. This visit was a wonderful way to acknowledge the hard work and generosity of our students, reinforcing the positive impact of their contributions.
Golden Paddle Comp
This week marks the commencement of our annual Golden Paddle Competition, a highly anticipated table tennis tournament held during lunchtimes. Students from all year levels are eagerly participating, showcasing their skills and competitive spirit. The matches have been intense, with students vying for the coveted title of Golden Paddle champion. The competition will continue into next week, and concluding with the announcement of the winners. Best of luck to all participants, and may the best players emerge victorious!
