Valentine's Day
As Valentine's Day approached, our school braced itself for an influx of flowers and chocolates, transforming our halls into a vibrant tapestry of affection. In the preceding week, students diligently arranged deliveries, eagerly anticipating the joy they would bring. On the day itself, our classrooms became stages for heartfelt surprises as students received unexpected tokens of admiration from both friends and secret admirers alike.
Our courtyard blossomed into a haven of romance, adorned with the sweet
scent of roses and the melodic strains of love songs serenading the air.
Against this enchanting backdrop, karaoke added an extra layer of charm,
elevating Valentine’s Day into an unforgettable celebration of love and
togetherness.
Battle of the Bands
Once more, our annual Battle of the Bands ignited the stage with an electrifying showcase of our students' musical prowess. The auditorium buzzed with excitement as both students and staff filled the seats for two exhilarating days of performances. With seven phenomenal bands taking the spotlight this year, the audience was treated to a plethora of crowd-pleasing favourites, ensuring an unforgettable musical experience for all.
The winners from the
Battle of the Bands will earn the prestigious opportunity to headline our
Festival of Creativity at the end of Term 2. While the winner is yet to be
announced, I want to extend my congratulations to all the student bands who performed
over the course of two days, as well as to the two daring staff bands.
Witnessing such a remarkable turnout of students supporting their peers was
truly inspiring, and indeed, selecting the ultimate winner will prove to be
challenging.
QCE Awards
Over the weekend, I had the privilege of attending the QCE Achievement Awards at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. This ceremony serves as a beacon of excellence, shining a spotlight on the remarkable academic achievements and outstanding learning accomplishments. Of the 45 QCE Excellence Awards presented, only one award is open to IB students. The award is presented to the top IB Diploma student in Queensland. I am very proud to announce that Aastha Gupta QASMT graduate 2023 is the recipient of this award. It was wonderful to share this moment with Aastha and her parents who were not aware that she was indeed the highest performing IB Diploma student in the state.
QASMT DUX
If the QCE award was not exciting enough, Aastha has also been awarded the honourable title of the 2023 QASMT DUX. Congratulations, Aastha! Your outstanding achievement fills us with pride, and we eagerly anticipate your future successes.
