Year 10 Parent Coffee Morning

At the heart of our educational ethos lies the belief in the power of collaboration and partnership between home and school. It was with great pleasure that we welcomed the parents of our Year 10 students to a coffee morning with our Deputy Principal's. This intimate gathering provided an invaluable opportunity for parents to engage in open discussions, and gain deeper insights into our school's curriculum and support systems.

Through candid conversations and shared aspirations, we reaffirmed our collective commitment to nurturing the holistic development of our students. The synergy between home and school forms the cornerstone of our educational philosophy, and events like these serve as catalysts for building strong, supportive partnerships that empower our students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Random Acts of Science

In our continuous pursuit of nurturing a love for learning and fostering scientific inquiry, our students embarked on a captivating journey during Random Acts of Science Week. Over three exhilarating days, the courtyard buzzed with the excitement of discovery as students delved into a myriad of science activities and experiments, which were organised and led by our Science Ambassadors.

From captivating demonstrations and hands-on experiments, to thought-provoking discussions and collaborative projects, our students immersed themselves in the wonders of science. Random Acts of Science Week not only showcased the ingenuity and passion of our students, it also underpins the transformative power of experiential learning in igniting lifelong curiosity and nurturing the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.

Year 10 Final Induction Session

As our new Year 10 students embark on their journey at our school, it is imperative to nurture a sense of belonging and camaraderie within our school houses. Our dedicated House Deans orchestrated a memorable final induction session, filled with games, activities, and team-building exercises.

Through laughter, collaboration, and friendly competition, students forged bonds of friendship and solidarity that transcend the confines of the classroom. These shared experiences not only foster a sense of belonging within their respective school houses, it ultimately instills values of teamwork, resilience, and empathy that are integral to our students.

Year Level Parent Representative Meeting

This week marked the last Year Level Parent Reps meeting for Term 1. The focus of the meeting was to provide updates on the Parent Engagement Framework, discuss any emerging topics, and collectively establish strategies to navigate these topics.

I would like to thank our Parent Reps for volunteering and taking on such an important role within our school.

Exam Block

It is with both anticipation and encouragement that we turn our attention to our Years 10 - 12 students, who have embarked on their exam block this Friday. These dedicated scholars have devoted countless hours to their studies, and now they stand poised to demonstrate their knowledge and mastery of the curriculum.

My best wishes to our students in reaching their personal goals for success, as they navigate this crucial period of assessment. Remember, dedication, resilience, and determination have brought them to this moment, and I have every confidence in their ability to rise to the occasion.

A good news story from a member of the public

I am delighted to share a heartwarming anecdote that truly exemplifies the character and values instilled within our SMT students. This week, one of our staff members received a touching commendation from a shop owner in Taringa, praising the exemplary behavior and compassion demonstrated by our students.

Expressed by the shop owner, our SMT students have garnered a sterling reputation within the community for their kindness, respectfulness, and impeccable manners. The shop owner recounted a touching scene where a group of our students stepped forward to assist an elderly lady with mobility issues off a bus. While students from other schools remained seated, our students selflessly disembarked to aid the lady onto the footpath, ensuring her safety and comfort.

The shop owner's testimonial serves as a poignant reminder of the profound impact our students have beyond the classrooms. Their acts of kindness not only uplift individuals in need, they also reflect the values of empathy, compassion, and community that lie at the heart of our school ethos. I commend our SMT students for embodying the spirit of service and goodwill that enriches our school community and leaves a lasting impression wherever they go.

Staff Trivia

As we approach the well-deserved holiday break, our fantastic QASMT Social Club hosted staff trivia, providing a much-needed opportunity for teaching and support staff to unwind and catch up.

Amidst the laughter and friendly banter, teams of staff tested their knowledge across a range of topics, from pop culture to history, and even obscure QASMT lore. The trivia game served as a reminder of the collective expertise and camaraderie that defines our school community. In celebrating our shared successes and embracing our individual quirks, we reinforce the bonds that strengthen and nurture our wellbeing.
