Principal's Blog – Week 6, Term 4, 2025
10 November 2025
Halfway Through Term 4
It's hard to believe we've already reached the midpoint of Term 4. The weeks have flown by as our students are undertaking exams, we reflect on just how far they've come this year.
This term has been rich with moments of connection and celebration. We've held our Parent Information Evening and Calling Ceremony, celebrated World Teachers' and Support Staff Day, and seen our future leaders take part in Student Leadership Training. We also recognised outstanding achievement at our Annual Awards Evening, contributed to sustainability through Arbor Day, and warmly welcomed our Year 9 students back from their journey.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting with our Academy Representative Council to hear their thoughtful ideas for strengthening student life and community spirit. With more exciting events still to come, the remainder of the term promises to be a wonderful finale to a rewarding and memorable year.

Parent Information Evening — Incoming Year 7 and Year 10 Families (2026)
On Monday evening, we had the pleasure of welcoming families of our incoming Year 7 and Year 10 students for 2026 to our Parent Information Evening. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet the House Deans and teaching staff who will guide and support their children through their QASMT experience.
The evening featured:
- Warm introductions with House Deans, Heads of Department, and members of the Leadership Team
- Thoughtful presentations on wellbeing, school culture, and the rhythms of daily school life
- Practical information about upcoming camps, home learning expectations, and communication channels for parents
Thank you to all who attended and for your genuine enthusiasm and engagement. It was an excellent beginning to what we know will be a vibrant and successful journey for our newest members of the QASMT community.

The Calling Ceremony – Year 9
Our Year 9 students recently took part in their Reflection Activity and Badge Ceremony — collectively known as the Calling Ceremony. This milestone represents a moment of significance, inviting students to pause and recognise their personal growth, achievements, and aspirations as they move into the next stage of their learning journey.
It was a truly meaningful occasion, marked by pride, reflection, and a strong sense of belonging. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special moment; it captured beautifully the spirit of growth and connection that defines QASMT.

2026 Student Leadership Training
Our newly appointed 2026 Academy Representative Council (ARC) have already begun embracing their leadership roles with great enthusiasm.
Over the past two days, our new captains and student leaders participated in an engaging and thought-provoking leadership training programme designed to develop their communication, collaboration, and vision-setting skills. It has been inspiring to see their passion and readiness to represent and guide their peers in the year ahead.
We are incredibly proud of their commitment and look forward to seeing their ideas and energy shape the year to come.

World Teacher and Support Staff Day
We recently celebrated World Teacher and Support Staff Day — a valued opportunity to express our gratitude for the dedication, professionalism, and care of all those who make QASMT such an extraordinary place to learn and thrive.
The morning was filled with laughter, conversation, and a shared sense of appreciation over a delicious morning tea. Our sincere thanks to Christ Community Church for their generous catering, our Parent Representatives for their kind donation of chocolates and to every member of staff for their ongoing contribution to our students' growth and wellbeing. Your commitment is deeply appreciated.

Looking Ahead
As Term 4 continues, I want to acknowledge the remarkable energy and resilience of our entire school community. Our Year 12 students are currently completing their final examinations — the culmination of years of focus and determination — and we eagerly anticipate celebrating their achievements at the upcoming Valedictory Ceremony.
The next few weeks will bring a wonderful mix of final projects, performances, and celebrations, all leading up to a well-earned holiday break. It's a perfect time to reflect on what we have achieved together this year and to take pride in the growth, creativity, and connection that make our Academy such a special place.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and commitment to our community. QASMT continues to shine because of the people within it — inquisitive minds, compassionate hearts, and a shared desire to make a difference.
Warm regards,
